What would the Jewish response be if the State of Israel were forcibly dismantled?

Filed under: international removals — admin @ 3:57 pm

By an international body,or perhaps a consortium of major states. No genocide or even expulsion, just a removal of the government, like when the Allies dismantled the Third Reich. What do you think most of the jews there would do? Would they organize terrorists groups,or leave,or commit mass suicide? Opinions? Please, try to be courteous; it’s a volatile subject. Serious replies only,as they say.
I don’t think it’s really all that hypothetical – not with the EU forming a war crimes tribunal specifically targeting israeli crimes in Lebanon and the Gaza.

Most would leave but the diehards – the Gush Emunim crowd – would stay and develop terrorist or reistance groups, depending on your point of view. It would be a major blow to jewish prestige internationally. And it is possible – quite so. It may not seem like it today, but who in 1988 could have predicted the collapse of the U.S.S.R. in 1991? Things can change very abruptly in international affairs, and this is a very, very unpopular little government.

  1. Trying to give a rather sensible answer, this is a hypothetical question so don’t expect much.

Israel currently has a state and a military (if you have not heard of it yet it’s called IDF) by an international body/ if there was a UN resolution, Israel would simply defy that, if there was a coalition-type military confrontation, they have an army so they will fight with their army. if successful well successful, if not, some will leave, some will stay, very few will engage in guerrilla (or as it is better known recently terroristic) tactics. again your question is hypothetical, more than likely never gonna happen.

  3. They’d do the same as the USA or any other country with weapons: say "Screw you, Buddy!" and try to kick the tush of anyone who gets in their face!!

  4. Won’t happen so it is a non issue. No international body can dissolve a state and I doubt the Israelis would put up with being kicked out for a 3rd time.

Bosco, the UN did not dismantle Iraq, in fact Iraq still exists. The question was about dismantling Israel, not the government only. As for Yugoslavia, the citizens of Yugoslavia broke it up themselves through civil war, NATO came in later and had nothing to do with Kosovo becoming independent. That was the Kosovards decision. Read up on the topic before humiliating yourself next time

  5. If it were carefully coordinated and executed by a group of super-states they would have no alternative but to accept it,particularly since resistance to the new government would constitute treason and therefore grounds for either imprisonment or expulsion. I would imagine that confronted with the threat of overwhelming force they would probably resist fiercely for a short period, then flee the country. I do not believe they would tolerate a change of government as the Russian people did in 1991.

As to AM’s comment,he is apparently unaware of what happened in Iraq in 2003. One could cite many other recent examples in interventions; the dismantling of Yugoslavia comes to mind. I personally feel confident it’s just a matter of time before "israel" meets the same fate; it is an evil enterprise.

  6. The end will be like most colonial rule ended. Some will stay and some will go to where they came from their other mother lands.

  7. If they were confronted with a UN resolution, they would simply ignore it as they have with all of the other UN resolutions that they didn’t agree with. If there were a military effort they have an army and would attempt to defend themselves. If the government were successfully dissloved, some would stay and some would go. Many would use their connections in the media and the guilt many westerners still feel about the holocaust to try to gain sympathy and convince other governments that the land should be returned to them.
