I call them foolish attempts to avoid the inevitable.
I am not saying that I like or want war, I have always wanted peace between people but no one can stay at peace for ever. Lets take the EU for example, is it really as good as it sounds? With this peace countries lost their traditions, their legacy, what did our ancestors fight for? For some foreigners to come in to our land, take our resources and women, pollute the air we breve and destroy our culture and our way of life?
International peace is a dream for the weak mind, there is only one way to have peace and the is to conquer and dominate. I'm sorry I offended your ideal but I only speak the truth taking into account the present.
References :
"International peace" is I think a pipe dream. It is very nice to wish and politicians love to say it over and over, but it is inherently contrary to human nature. The survival instinct of humans always leads to friction, rivalry and opposing goals. If you expand this from the level of individuals to the level of large groups of people or countries, where politics (always) are involved, then you will inevitably have conflict, some of it armed conflict.
You can struggle against this and some groups will see and embrace the benefits of peace/prosperity/progress, but humanity as a whole will never get to a state of homogeneous enlightened state of peace. I read somewhere (can't find the source), that since the founding of the United Nations, one of who's primary goal is world peace, there have been a total of something like 7 days of absolute peace on earth. 7 days where there were no wars, civil wars, or other kinds of armed conflicts. That's 7 days out of 65+ Years (that's more than 23,700 days)!!!
